Dex called me about my ad for the June 2008 book. I told them I needed to lower my cost but keep the same coverage. Cut the size of the ad would work for me. The sales girl from DEX calls and said that she worked out a plan to keep the same coverage at a lower rate. Great I though. The June book comes out & I'm not listed at all. Instead of being in the local book she put me in the Business-to-Business book. I deal with homeowners mostly and they do not get the Business-to-Business book. I've been in the yellow pages for over 10 years & now it looks like I'm out of business. THANKS DEX FOR SCREWING ME OVER.
Dex really pooched the goose with my business listing. They cut off half of a picture that I provided to them to run in the ad. The kicker is that the proof they sent me had the whole picture in it. But when the book came out, the picture is cut in half. What ever happened to the proof that I signed off. Now I have a really stupid looking ad that I am paying out the ass for. K

When I refused to pay the bill and told them their people kept calling me and sent collection letters saying that I needed to pay and even doubled the amount.
Recently, I got a collections letter from Allied American Credit claiming that the publisher of Dex Yellow Pages agreed to my settlement amount of $695 which I never even made.
It's obvious now that Dex has sold our case to a collection agency but I don't intend on being forced to pay for an ad I never even got the chance to approve or was happy with.
For the 2009 book, Dex listed my business "The Greener Cleaners" alphabetically under the word "The" in the "T" section. Now when my clients or potential customers go to look me up they see my competitor who has a similar name and call them instead!!
They are overpriced and make big mistakes. I won't ever list with them again.

Good luck to them continuing to screw small business owners out of their money. They'll need that to pay off their $6 billion dollar debt. Now that's what I call karma.
Dex search site only gives priority to those companies that pay them money. While they have a great data base, a search will most likely find you only the companies giving them money!
You can bet their product reflect those cost! Dex Knows Profits!

I've been looking for other alternatives and came across a new business search engine that offers free advertisement in the form of an ebillboard. You can video tape an advertisement for your business FREE!!! It's pretty cool. You might want to check it out at seekshallfind.com. Hope this helps!
I tried the crappy Dex online service. It cost me $150 a month for absolutely ZERO results. I got a total of 1 call from customers in 5 months. That's $750 per call-outrageous! However, I did get hundreds of call from solicitors who found my name on Dex. The Dex rep called me up one day, all excited about the amazing results he thought I was getting-until I showed him how they were all from telemarketers in other area codes. When he blocked calls from outside my area code, my calls fell to ZERO. Nada. Silence. The online service is completely worthless, unless you are a solicitor looking for stupid Dex advertisers like me to harass. My Dex rep also told me I'd get a free print ad with my online service. Evidently it is NOT free, because now I've got bill collectors calling me for money for their worthless internet service and it's "free' print ad. My life is now dedicated to informing every business owner I know about this horrible scam. Dex should be ashamed.

My business took 6 months longer to open than expected due to the bureaucratic nightmare that is the State of Washington (one of the worst states in the country to do business).
Because of this I didn't pay for a business phone up front. I listed my personal cell phone temporarily on the business license. HUGE MISTAKE.
So now Dex has my personal cell phone listed as my business number. They refuse to even talk to me about it. All the employees I've dealt with have a "f**k you" attitude about the whole thing. Nothing will be done about it.

Dex is the Worst. They are lairs and a bunch of crooks. I told them I wanted to cancel my Plan as I saw no clients from there promotion and they said that it would be canceled by the end of the year. I gladly paid for the rest of the year. But the next year they renewed my contract. They said its auto renewal.I was Also told if i dont pay my case will be sent to collections. I am still paying about $1250 a month. Bunch of crooks !
Was told that once I took over a contract for the business I bought that they would convert my info for the online listings. Danm books were already printed with outdated info. More that a month later there was no online listing of my business. I paid more that $12oo.oo for 6 months of nothing. I will not use this flakey dinosaur of a company ever again.
DEX ONE is using my company name on their hyperlink to steal my business. they have currently four local businesses in North Carolina on bing , yahoo and google using "Cary Pest Control" in the hyperlink It is really confusing when I get referals and there are five "Cary Pest Contro" companies to choose from, I have a state service mark, but DEX is out of state.They are jerks.
